About Mila Molchanov
Mila Molchanov received 16 years of extensive training in the former Soviet Union, first in Kiev (Ukraine) and then at St. Petersburg Conservatory (Russia). It was this fascinating and history-rich Conservatory that trained musical Titans such as Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov and Stravinsky, just to name a few.
Mila holds two degrees: a BA in education and a Masters in Piano Performance.
Although Mila started her career as a Concert Pianist, the love to teach prevailed. Her teaching philosophy asserts that with the right encouragement and help, every person can learn to play the piano.
Almost all of her students go on to successfully pass their Piano and Theory Conservatory examinations. For the past 28 years, many of Mila’s students have received awards and prizes in Piano Festivals and Competitions, including local and national Composers Competitions.
Some of her students have become piano teachers themselves, going on to provide their own piano lessons, and many others follow their passion for music through other outlets, either by playing recreationally or professionally, singing, or composing their own music.
In addition to teaching piano lessons, performing and adjudicating and examining the RCM exams, Mila expresses her creative side with hobbies such as painting, reading, creative writing, hiking and ice skating.
